Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?

The laser hair removal is not permanent but many people who want to undergo the procedure ask themselves; is laser hair removal permanent?

Laser hair removal does work through heating hair follicles so that the new hair will not grow from it.

This means that the follicle will be placed in a dormant state for a longer period. This will be better compared to waxing or shaving.

If the hair does grow back, they will be few, finer and lighter in their numbers.

Even if the procedure may be called permanent, the laser treatment will just reduce how much-unwanted hair do you have in a certain place. It may not get rid of the unwanted hair as it is believed to be.

The hair removal will give better results for people who have darker hair over light skin tones.

How does laser hair removal work?

Laser therapy does work by using a high heat laser beam which is a mild form of the radiation. It is during such a process when the laser beam will heat up or damage the hair follicles.

The hair follicles are found under the skin, and they are responsible when it comes to producing near strands of the hair.

When the follicles get destroyed, then hair production can be disabled permanently.

This is contrary to waxing, shaving and tweezing since it will only work on the hair found over the surface.

Such a method will not target the hair-producing follicles.

The following are an area that will lead to better results with laser hair removal:

  • Shoulders
  • Back
  • Chest
  • Face
  • Bikini line
  • Neck

It is the form of hair removal which will work better for someone who has darker hair color over the light skin tone. It is because the laser may target the melanin. When the hair was not removed, then the lightening of color may reduce how the hair looks over a skin.

Some of the hair can shed within a few days of the first session.

Laser hair removal is a quick process. If you are getting it for a small area like an upper lip, it may take few minutes. When a larger area of hair removal likes the chest or back, it will a bit longer.

If you require having the pain-relieving gel, then you should expect to be in an office for a full hour. Even if the laser hair removal may be successful, after a certain period, the hair follicles will get well. It means that the new hair will start once again. If you want to get to more permanent results, then it is better to undergo different treatment sessions.

Why do you need to undergo all the sessions?

After the treatment, it is important if you undergo all the laser treatment sessions recommended.

You may need between four to six sessions. We recommend 6 weeks in between sessions.
